In our Pillowpacker Hypoallergenic Microfibre Inflatable Travel Pillow we use Eco2 Suprelle Micro, the latest innovation in microfibre technology, created and manufactured in Germany. A revolutionary manufacturing process produces a down alternative of ultrafine siliconized fibres of Dacron polyester that are soft, light and very smooth to the touch. The siliconization process allows the fibres to slide past one another easily, creating a soft texture similar to goose down. Suprelle is more more durable, fluffier, rebounds better than other microfibres and is naturally hypo-allergenic. Designed to simulate the luxurious softness of down and also compliant with stringent European standards for environmental protection and product safety means that our pillows will provide years of travel comfort.
The down used in making Pillowpacker® Pillows is among the best you can get and we are very happy to be able to offer it in our products. All our down is produced by Feather Industries, the largest processor of feathers and down in Canada, and exceeds all Canadian and International cleanliness standards.
Down from Feather Industries is a by-product of the waterfowl meat industry. Feather Industries only buys feathers and down from farmers who follow their policies regarding the ethical treatment of animals, which include but are not limited to, no force feeding (and whenever possible, free range fed) and absolutely no live plucking. No waterfowl are ever raised solely for the harvest of their down. Using down from livestock provides farmers with an additional source of income and reduces waste. Feather Industries buy feathers and down from the Canadian Hutterites and Brome Lake Duck, the two sources of down in our down pillows.
Feather Industries uses eco-friendly processes to wash, clean and sanitize the down to the highest international standards. The by-products and cleaning agents are 100% biodegradable. The end result is a product with a much lower carbon footprint than synthetic alternatives.
The adherence to these strict standards and the vigilance to ensure that these ethical policies are practiced by all partners continue to make Canadian Feather Industries one of the most respected companies in the industry.
The best down comes from a mature bird between 6 and 8 months old when the down clusters are the largest, densest, and strongest. The geese are reared outdoors in large enclosures to provide food for the community, which means that the down only becomes available when the geese are used for food. Since the birds are allowed to live until they are fully grown, they provide very large and fine down.
The Pillowpacker® Pillow is easy to inflate and adjust using the twist valve, accessible by way of a zipper opening in the outer pillow. To inflate, turn the valve counter-clockwise to ensure it is open and blow into the pillow. It does not need to be firm. Turn the value clockwise to seal. We advise you text the firmness at home before you travel.
You can adjust the pillow pressure to get a feel just right for you.

High quality downs are put through rigorous cleaning processes which finish with special treatments to ensure the down is hypoallergenic. However, if you are concerned about allergies please consider our 100% Hypoallergenic Microfibre Down Alternative Pillow filled with Eco2 Suprelle Micro, a revolutionary new microfibre of ultrafine siliconized Dacron polyester. And in all cases, follow our care instructions to ensure your pillows remain clean, fresh and hypoallergenic year after year.
Down is naturally very fluffy and light and has the marvelous ability to breath and “wick away” body moisture. Down is the undercoating of waterfowl. It consists of millions of light, fluffy filaments, growing from a central quill point. Every ounce of quality down has about 2 million fluffy filaments that interlock and overlap, creating a three-dimensional structure that traps air that makes down do desirable. The ability of these filaments to trap air is called “loft”. Down continually re-lofts and molds itself to the body without clumping. Because of its resilience, you can scrunch it up or flatten it out and it will still bounce back to its original shape in order to maintain its warm and fluffy properties.
Our 100% Canadian duck down is humanely harvested from Brome Lake ducks that has been processed and laboratory tested to exceed all Canadian and inter-national cleanliness standards. The down is over 75% down clusters with a 600-loft factor. Brome Lake Ducks use breeding methods that value the quality of life of their birds and raise them without antibiotics and growth hormones on a natural diet and access to water.
Silk is by far the preferred material for sleeping bag liners. Luxuriously soft, incredibly lightweight and remarkably packable, it is one of the most weight and space effective sleeping solutions available. Silk is natural and sustainable. It is hypoallergenic and soothing to the skin. In spite of its delicate appearance, silk is robust and its smooth surface resists soil and odors well. Silk wicks moisture away from the skin and is quick and easy to wash and dry. Its natural temperature-regulating properties give silk this paradoxical ability to both cool and warm as needed.
To pack, simply open the zipper and turn the value counter-clockwise to allow the air to escape. Gently apply pressure to deflate and either place flat in your luggage or roll and place in its stuff sack. There is no need to disassemble the pillow set when packing.
